This summer, thanks to excellent work by the facilities, maintenance, operations, IT, and dining teams, as well as many partners across campus, the college completed major investments into buildings, technology, and dining services. John Carrescia, Vice President for Finance & Administration and CFO, extends his gratitude to all of the campus staff members who made these improvements possible. Here are some of the key upgrades across campus.
Guild Hall
The building now has all-new windows, flooring, doors, and fresh paint in residence hall rooms and hallways. Bathrooms have been completely overhauled with all-new fixtures. Residence hall rooms are also now outfitted with all-new furniture. Workers also completed major improvements to Guild Hall’s roof and facade.
Harborview Hall
Phase 1 of the comprehensive Harborview renovation is under way. During the summer, demolition was completed on each floor of the west side of the building. The reconstruction phase of the west side will continue throughout the Fall Semester. We appreciate the patience of Harborview residents during continued construction, as we work to significantly upgrade the residential experience in the college’s largest residence hall.
Campus Exterior
Major walkway repairs and improvements were completed throughout campus. Also, new safety and security systems are being installed throughout campus.
Parker Hall
Gutters repair was completed over the summer. Roof repairs and spot pointing are in progress.
Technology Upgrades
New high-tech digital systems have been installed in Spiro 5, Main Hall 6 and 8, and the Manzulli Boardroom. New iMacs are in operation in the Main Hall 44 Film Lab. The Wi-Fi systems in Guild Hall and Towers have also been substantially upgraded.
Planetarium
The college’s Planetarium has been significantly upgraded, including a new dome, projector, seating, and flooring.
Campus Dining
Hawks Nest. New seating areas have been installed. A local vendor, Sips Juice Bar, will offer smoothie and waffle bowls this semester, a new sushi program will be on offer, and grab-and-go options have expanded. Also, in addition to the Boost mobile app, patrons can now also pay by cash or card on site.
Main Dining Hall. The college will host a cultural cuisine series throughout the year, as well as a host of other upgrades to dining options. Expanded gluten-free dessert options will be offered.
Other Dining. A new Farmer’s Fridge vending option has been added to the Spiro Hall vestibule. New water bottle filling stations have been added in Towers.
