LIMPOPO – The BMI Coverland Roofing Academy opened its doors in Polokwane to anyone seeking to gain skills and obtain a formal qualification in roofing.
A roof is an important element of a home as it provides shelter and protection.
A poorly constructed roof due to bad workmanship could be disastrous.
The Academy offers a one-year course to contractors and aspiring roofers at their new training facility in the Polokwane.
According to BMI Coverland Roofing Academy managing director JJ Conradie, they want to professionalise the roofing industry and empower and develop skills among young people.
“There are a lot of people employed in the roofing industry but very few are qualified. We want to change the landscape of roofing and ensure that all roofers are skilled and qualified. As a company we believe in formalising the skills in the roofing industry and providing roofers with an opportunity to grow and progress their careers.”
He stressed that BMI Coverland Roofing Academy will provide two SAQA accredited courses, national certificate: waterproof and roof repair, NQF 2 and national certificate: timber roof erecting, NQF 3.
By focusing on theoretical and practical training, trainees complete their programme with the relevant knowledge to put their newly learnt skills into practice.
BMI Coverland is in a fortunate position to leverage its global training and research knowledge developed in Germany, the UK and France, ensuring that we provide quality training courses that benefit our local communities, our people and our overall roofing industry.
Training is open to anyone seeking to gain skills and obtain a formal roofing qualification.
We invite developers and roofing contractors to get in touch with us to train their teams and thereby increase the quality of workmanship across their projects.
