ROME — The city of Rome is looking to apply for nearly $500,000 through the 2023 NYS Consolidated Funding Application process to go toward the Empire State-Canalway Trail, according to the Common Council agenda for their July 26 meeting.
The city’s Department of Community and Economic Development will apply for $459,900 in funding through the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for work at the Empire State-Canalway Trail Priority Trailhead Access Areas. If the money is granted, the city will match 25%, equal to $153,300.
Also on the agenda:
• The council will vote on moving ahead with a proposed $5 million project to repair and improve City Hall.
• The city is looking to repair and improve the roof at the Laurel Street fire station for $73,000.
• The council will vote to pay $310,201.63 in back taxes on 24 delinquent properties for 2022.
• There will be several votes to amend the bank balances for the 2016 and 2022 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan, the James Street Capital Account and the City Hall Capital Project Account. Among the actions up for a council vote is using $765,131 from the Capital Reserve Account to go toward the City Hall Capital Project.
