Work includes the renovation and addition to the former Alamito Management & Community Center (Alamito Center).
The site is approximately 27,000 sf. The existing heated and cooled space is approximately 5,600 sf. One new self-standing addition is to be constructed on the site; a 1,250 sf Lab Building.
The community center and the Lab Building are considered historic structures and all design and construction work shall be in accordance with Department of Interior’s historic preservation standards.
The Lab Building (Bldg B) encompasses the dismantling of an existing one-story double wythe masonry brick and concrete structure with clay-tile roofing to be reconstructed to match all exterior detailing re-using the salvaged bricks and clay tile roofing. New construction is 2×4 wood exterior stud walls with brick veneer with pre-engineered roof framing with 5/8” plywood and clay-tiles as shown on plans and specifications.
The existing 1940’s Community Center (Bldg A) brick masonry and concrete structure is to be rehabilitated to provide for contemporary flexible learning and testing spaces with completely new plumbing, mechanical electrical, and IT systems. Scope includes:
- Abatement as per Abatement Plan for Asbestos Containing Material (ACM)
- Selective dismantling & demolition for building and site where shown.
- Repair and Patching of existing material finishes to remain in accordance with historic rehabilitation standards.
- New roofing and clay tile re-roofing using salvaged tile
- New metal stud wall with 5/8” gypsum board
- All new interior finishes for floor, walls and ceilings
- New cabinets
- Repair existing windows and install new interior window inserts.
- New windows and doors as shown.
- New MPE systems as shown.
- New landscaping and irrigation
