MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY — The $2 million in bonds needed to repair the Paducah-McCracken County Convention and Expo Center roof will have to wait. The McCracken County Fiscal Court tabled the approval of that ordinance Monday.
That’s because commissioners want to tackle other renovations in the convention center at the same time as the roof.
Commissioners estimate they could save $30,000 to $40,000 by combining all renovations into one bond, instead of taking out one now and one later.

Judge Executive Craig Clymer isn’t completely sold on the idea.
“I think we probably should do more, but I don’t see a downside to going ahead and doing the roof as we prepared to do and then we’re not in and under the gun,” Clymer says.

The fiscal court will revisit this ordinance at its next meeting on Oct. 9. Then, the fiscal court will decide whether to proceed with the roof repair bond or resubmit one for several projects.
