Mold Breakers Fellowship Church will hold a Veterans Day breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at 7509 Fairway Road in Woodway.

Roof repair

Applications are due by Thursday for Grassroots Community Development’s Roof Repair Program to help low-income city of Waco families. The organization has enough funding to repair about 22 roofs.

Applications are available at GrassrootsWaco.org. Assessment of applications will continue through December.

The Community Race Relations Coalition and the Waco NAACP chapter will hold a “Thursday Night Lights — Honoring the Prairie View Interscholastic League,” event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the parish hall at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 305 N. 30th St.

Author Michael Hurd will speak on the 50-year segregated league and Waco’s participants in academics and sports from 1920 to 1970.

24 hours of gaming

The McLennan Community College Engineering & Physics Club will hold the Extra Life 24-Hour Gaming Marathon from 9 a.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday on the first floor of the MCC Science Building. The event will raise money for Children’s Miracle Network.

The event lasts 24 hours, but players may come and go.

Library book sale

The 60th annual Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held Thursday through Sunday at the Base at Extraco Events Center, 4601 Bosque Blvd.

The group is offering free books to volunteers who help prepare for the sale. Volunteer sign-up is at waco-texas.com/Departments/Library/Friends.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $10 Thursday, free other days.

Hardcovers, paperbacks, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and puzzles are half price Friday through Sunday. Shoppers can bring their own bag for $1 bags of books Sunday, when Collector’s Corner items will also be 50% off.

Music and arts

The Music Association of Central Texas Music & Arts Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Barrow Brewing Co., 106 Royal St. in Salado.

Activities at the creekside vista will include food trucks, a bounce house for kids, arts and crafts vendors, beer and coffee.

The Huser Brother Band will headline the event, which will feature musicians all day on indoor and outdoor stages.

Admission is free before 5:30 p.m. and $10 in the evening.

Robinson Color Run

The Robinson Education Foundation Color Run will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Robinson Independent School District Administration Building, 500 W. Lyndale Drive.

Theme is “Reppin’ our House Colors,” so participants should wear anything and everything in their favorite color. A prize for best-dressed runner will be awarded at the end of the 1-mile run.

Registration is open through 4 p.m. Friday.

Burgers and Brews

The Bellmead Chamber of Commerce and the city of Bellmead’s third annual Bellmead Burgers and Brews Festival will start at noon Saturday at Lions Park, 3900 Parrish St.

Gates will open at noon and the burger competition will start at 2. Live music will start at 4 p.m., and there will be food trucks and carnival rides.

There is no charge to get into the festival, or for the carnival rides.

Some of the roads around the Civic Center will be closed, but parking will be available in the La Vega High School parking lots or on side streets.

Mother Neff festival

Mother Neff’s State Park Fall Fest will be held Saturday at 1921 Park Road 14 in Moody.

Leon River Dutch Oven Gang demonstrations will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Smokey Bear will make an appearance as well. There will be nature hikes, guided hikes, storybook trails and scavenger hunts, as well as children’s activities and crafts.

There will also be a history of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

This is one of many 100-year celebration events happening in Texas state parks this year. Day-pass entry to a park is free on the day it hosts an official 100-Year celebration event. To guarantee entry, reserve a free day pass up to one month before the event.

Nativity Open House

World Cup Cafe, 1321 N. 15th St., will present its ninth annual Nativity Open House from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.

This event will feature nativities around the world and other seasonal items. Light refreshments will be served.
