Marquette County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce they have received a $49,833 grant from Lowe’s to help complete four critical home repairs throughout Marquette County.
“Low-income homeowners in our area struggle to afford to hire contractors due to labor shortages and increasing prices,” said Henry Sale, Repairs Coordinator, explaining why the Lowe’s partnership is vital. “Marquette County Habitat for Humanity’s repair program exists to help these homeowners be safe in their homes.”
The four projects include repairing an aged roof for a disabled senior who lives at home with her family, building a solid wooden ramp for the daughter of an elderly veteran, repairing an aged roof for an elderly widow, and replacing weathered steps and repairing other unsafe structures for a single woman living on a winding back road far from facilities.
Access to quality, affordable home repair and modification services continues to be out of reach for low income households across the nation. With the support of this funding, Marquette County Habitat for Humanity will be able to further its efforts of helping families throughout Marquette County to address critical health and safety issues in their homes.
The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes. Through this partnership, more than75 local Habitat affiliates will complete more than 480 projects this year to address critical health and safety issues in homes across the U.S. Since 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.
